Sun Lounge @ Pasara Thai
I absolutely LOVE this place. I work here on Saturdays (formerly Fridays) taking photographs of club patrons. This is my second nightlife gig, as Modern is/was my first. Same promotion company, so many of the same faces that I've come to meet and adore. Thia and Tulip represent the restaurant as owners while Sonny runs the promotion aspect of its nightlife. To me, it's the more upscale version of Modern on Thursdays, a little less breakdance and a little more class. Different, but same amount of fun to me!
Picking up a camera as well as dancing shoes a few months ago, has led me to this. And hopefully this leads me to something else, which i won't talk about yet as to not jinx it. Sun Lounge re-opens this Saturday at 10pm. 1219 Conn. Ave. NW, be there.
The Lionz Den @ Modern
"Funky, vivacious, chill, retro and unmistakably contemporary. MODERN is located in the heart of Georgetown. It is
distinctly hip, upbeat and is the hottest lounge to hit DC in years. MODERN offers an escape to the daily stresses and pressures that life throws your way."
Not sure who wrote that up, but I'll say that's a pretty good description of life on Thursday at Modern -- with alloutparty. I've been on Friday nights as well as Saturdays and the amount pretentiousness exponentially rises for some reason. Maybe because it gets packed wall to wall, maybe it's a promoter, maybe it's a different crowd that shows up. Something on Thursday nights sucked me in and this picture does a great job of showing what it is. The energy in this place is unrivaled for me at any consistent venue in DC. Alongside that, you can go dressed in whatever you want! Pictured is Minh Tuan in a halo with Sonny in the background.
Nights like these have kept me up wayyy past my bedtime, for almost 14 weeks straight now. I'll grow up one day and get to sleep before midnight, until then, keep dancing!

Superwockeez!
i picked up a camera and started dancing approximately three months ago, the two have been intertwined for me ever since. the camera has opened up many opportunities and continues to do so, and i appreciate every moment of it. i've met many, many good people from the scene (the scene for me, is a blurred mix of the club and bboy scene).
just got back from watching America's Best Dance Crew Tour at Constitution Hall in DC. many thanks to alloutparty.com for having me. exhausted from a day of work followed by the show followed by going out with dance crew members! got to meet dancers from asiid, breaksk8, jabba, supercr3w, fanny pak, and boogie bots.
many thanks to ghost, phil, shamrock, people at the Y, all the folks from DCDC and any and everyone else who has contributed to the build-up of this blog!
